MediConnect's assets included almost 10 million digitized medical records that are indexed and securely hosted online. The company's proprietary technology provides customers on six continents with access to records.
The idea to post personal health records online was the brainchild of various eager entrepreneurs and came about before its time. In the early years, the company could not make a go of it, but then Amy Rees took the helm. She was the founder and CEO of MediConnect Global Inc, one of the first healthcare technology companies to post digital health records online and one of the largest cloud-based health information exchanges. Insurance companies, medical providers, and people took control of health records and mutually benefitted. Amy successfully lifted MediConnect until it was acquired by Verisk Analytics (VRSK) for over $377 million in March 2012. Amy Rees Anderson was married and later founded REES Capital and leads that company today.
